Bulgaria Work Permit
Non EU/EAA
Employment in Bulgaria is allowed only after securing an NEA Work Permit. This permit is issued exclusively to individuals with specialized skills or knowledge that are in demand but cannot be found in the local labor market.
The work permit application is submitted by the employer—a registered Bulgarian entity or a party to an international treaty with Bulgaria.
EU/EAA or Swiss citizens
Citizens from the EU, EEA, or Switzerland (and their family members) can work in Bulgaria without an NEA Work Permit. However, they must register as jobseekers at their local Employment Office.
(Please note: Following the UK’s departure from the EU, certain rules may have changed and are being updated.)
